Identity

What is dua ID and how does this self-sovereign identity work?

dua ID

We will develop and deploy a solution where each individual can create their own sovereign cryptographical identity, which they will generate and hold alone, without any third party involved in its storage. They can then use this identity and the smart contract information associated with it to add verifications from different federated institutions to enrich their identity.
These identities are:
  • Portable and independently verifiable
  • Digital
  • Private
  • Secure
There will be a central set of smart contracts developed by dua that will store a minimalistic representation of:
  • Approved Entities (AE) - Entities who wish to use the set of smart contracts
  • Generated User Identities
  • Reputation points and functions to update them
Approved entities (AEs) have to pay DUA to become approved, and they also have to stake DUA for them to be able to update reputation points for their users. The update of reputation can be done in different designs and data structures. For security and fairness, each AE should have a set of functions they devise before their launch. Based on their transparency models, they can also define the deciding factors and rules for a reputational change.
We believe that we can create a decentralized ‘framework’ where large and small players can come in and use it as a protocol to prove that their algorithms are honest without giving out their user base, advertisement revenue, or business advantage.

Grand Scheme

The below diagram shows a simplified version of a proposed possible solution to the contract set that dua will develop, deploy and maintain. The following sections present a deeper dive into these sections' purpose and design.
DUA Reputation Suite
Whereas these networks can potentially ban a user or remove them and all their content from their networks, the trail of their identity and reputation (positive or negative) is stored impartially on blockchain in an immutable ledger. That allows the person to have autonomy over their ID and data, regardless of what happens with the centralized services they interact with, and even protects them from impartial moderation or administrative measures taken against them if the Rule Set of such AEs is set up.
The quality of network participants seems to push or break social networks. A small set of users on the web provides most of the content we see in the most known social networks. Their reach, scope, and participation are disproportionate to the rest of the network.
The DUA contract suite can allow different networks to pre-vet the users they accept into their service. In addition, we see more services that start operating on-chain, requiring a form of reputation, whether it be lending, access to a community, information, governance, or others.
Our reputational suite can help build several business models. Because of the private nature of the reputation, we can provide zero-knowledge confirmations if we are given user cryptographic permission to different human resource departments for recruitment worldwide. In addition, we can offer content creators ranking for various business dealings regarding trade, exchange of goods, and services between individuals.
Given these, we can become the guardian of the user’s reputational points and then allow access only when confirmed by the user - making users trust us more because they ultimately trust themselves.
Several use cases that can utilize our reputational suite:
  • Recruiting
  • Human resources
  • New social platforms
  • Crypto projects who wish to vet their community / gatekeeping
  • DeFi lending
  • CeFi lending
  • Credit Scoring
